Advent Calendar: 11th of December

11th of December

.............................................................

Worried Lucky Snow-Warren looked out of the window.
“What is it?”, asked his sister Sophie.

“All the snow has melt away!”
“Oh no!”, shocked the young girl run to him. Indeed there was no sign of snow on the terrace, which was visible from the window. “But why? It’s so unfair!

“It is!”.
Sad the two rabbits went downstairs into the kitchen, where their mother prepared the breakfast.

“Morning mum…”
“Good morning, honeys! What has happened, why do you look so sad?”
Lucky sighed, “All the snow is gone! It’s so unfair! We wanted to build an igloo after school!”
“We already invited all our friends.”, added Sophie and looked frustrated at the orange juice on the table.

Lettuce started to laugh, which made her son mumble. “That’s not funny mum!”
“No, no! Come and look, the snow isn’t gone!”, she pointed out of the kitchen window.

“But… How could that be?”
“Your father started to shovel the snow an hour ago.”, Lettuce explained, “Too much snow has fallen over night, I fear you can’t go to school either!”
The two rabbits cheered loudly.
“If it goes on like that we won’t have school until spring!”, yelled Sophie and her brother had a little jig through the living room.

“I fear I must tell you that this won’t happen, my little carrots!”, said Clarence Snow-Warren at that moment.

He entered the house and wiggled with his ears until all the snow had fallen down, “Bah, it’s really cold outside!” Softly Clarence kissed his wife.

“But why? The bus can’t drive to Pumpkinvilles anymore!”, said Lucky triumphant, “So, no school for us!”

His father smirked, “Yes, you’re right. But I met Hans a few minutes ago and he told me, that Digger McBurrow just has made his last check in Marigold Creeks school.”

“Oh my, our school is finished?”, asked Lettuce excited. Her husband nodded, “Yes! We just have to wait for the teachers to arrive.”
“Oh noooo!”, disappointed the siblings looked at each other.
“But today you still have a day off. And you also can build the igloo you talked about!”, said Lettuce calming.

After a very fast breakfast the little rabbits squalled outside and started to build the igloo. Not long after that their friends appeared and helped.

The children were busy until lunch time, then Lettuce called them in. She had prepared a huge portion of Spaghetti for all of them. While they were eating, they chatted about the first igloo of Marigold Creek. Of course it was the best igloo in the world and it was clear, that no child in Pumkinvilles would be ever able to build such a beautiful igloo!
Complaisant Lettuce watched the children; it was so much joy to see them happy.

After the lunch they entered the igloo together through the tunnel.

“It’s so dark inside!”, said Paddock Buttercup.

“I don’t see anything!”, meant Rose Tuxedo and her sister added, “We should have taken a light with us!”
“Don’t worry!”, Muddy McBurrow laughed. Seconds after that a little light shined through the darkness. The mole boy smiled all over his face, “My dad always tell me: “Muddy, a mole always must have a light with him!”. And normally he also adds “and a shovel”, but I thought we don’t need one now!”
“You are our rescue!”, Luna laughed, “Good that your dad told you this!”

Together they spend another hour in the igloo, talking about funny things and secrets.
But soon it was too cold and the children returned into the Snow-Warrens farmhouse, where they warmed themselves infront of the chimney.

After a hot chocolate and some cookies the other children got fetched from their parents.
But you for sure know: If parents fetch their children, it can take a loooong time, because they enjoy chatting with the other parents, which leads to a cup of coffee and then to a piece of cake and so on and so on, while the children still have enough time to play together.

And because this also happens in Marigold Creek it was nearly 7 p.m. until the last parents were gone (Clarence had an interesting talk with Hans about the new spring seeds, which should arrive soon).
